Central Library and Document Center of Mazandaran University


Upon opening in 1980, the Mazandaran University Central Library and Documentation Center occupied 300 square meters, housed five staff members, and possessed a collection of over 3000 Persian and Latin book titles. Situated in a space of approximately 8500 square meters, this library houses a vast collection of Persian, Arabic, Latin, Russian, theses, government documents, and hundreds of other sources. It is among the biggest libraries in Iran and the largest in the province of Mazandaran. It offers a wide range of valuable services to both university and provincial levels.

There are currently 92,000 book titles and 173,000 copies in this library; of them, 79% are Persian and 21% are Latin (in English, Arabic, German, and French), in addition to 11,392 titles of master's and doctoral theses. This library's classification technique is "subject," which is administered via the "Congress" method. This library has access to 1750 journal titles. One of the most abundant resources in the province and the nation's libraries is the collection of pamphlets and official publications, which comprises around 4300 volumes covering a wide range of subjects. Researchers can access the journal's old issues, which are stored in separate sections. Among provincial and national libraries, the central library of Mazandaran University is one of the richest due to its collection of government publications and pamphlets, which totals over 4300 volumes across a range of subjects.

Additionally, there are roughly 21105 copies in the collection of reference materials, which includes dictionaries, encyclopedias, reports, books, and visual and audio materials. The library's lending and reference department lends out at least 750 books to candidates. At the national level, Ghadir projects cover the central library of Mazandaran University. Furthermore, this center offers the possibility to connect to both national and global information networks, and it also sets up and installs the necessary terminals for researchers and students.
