UMZs President Attends the 2019 Int’l Chinese Language Education Conference

President of Mazandaran University Attends 2019 Int’l Chinese Language Education Conference and Visits Guangzhou University

Dr. Nozari, along with the Director of the Office of International Scientific Cooperation, as well as the Director of the Chinese Confucius Institute at the University of Mazandaran, attended the 2019 Int’l Chinese Language Education Conference which was held this year in Changsha.

            From 2004, the Chinese Ministry of Education has set up Chinese language education institutes at various universities under the name of “Confucius Institute” to expand and facilitate its scientific, cultural, economic and industrial relations with various countries. There are now more than 600 Confucius Chinese language teaching Institutes around the world. It is noteworthy that the Confucius Institute at Mazandaran University started with more than thirty language learners in October this year.


            In this year’s 2019 Int’l Chinese Language Education Conference, Minister of Education Chen Baosheng and Du Jiahao, CPC Hunan Provincial Committee secretary and Hunan Provincial People’s Congress Standing Committee director, addressed the opening ceremony. He said that that China is trying to show the world another aspect of its ancient history and culture which not many people know. What many people in the world now may know about China is its industrial production, while China, as one of the world's great civilizations, and has played a very important role in shaping the present age. Xu Yousheng, deputy director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, and over 1,000 representatives from more than 160 countries and regions attended.

            The conference was convened on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Confucius Institute and the successful opening of the Confucius Institute Conference for 13 years in a row. It marked that international Chinese language education has entered a new stage of development.

            This year’s conference focused on such topics as international Chinese language education policies, standards, teachers, teaching materials, teaching methods, examinations, brand building, and deepening Sino-foreign cooperation. During the conference, a Chinese language teaching resources exhibition, a general election of the board of directors of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching (ISCLT), and special seminars were also held. Up to now, more than 600 Confucius Institutes and 1,172 Confucius Classrooms have been set up in 162 countries and regions.

On the sidelines of the 2019 Int’l Chinese Language Education Conference, the President of the University of Mazandaran, in a meeting with the President and Vice President of Guangzhou University, discussed various issues related to the Confucius Institute at UMZ, including the adoption of necessary solutions to transfer the annual budget of the University of Mazandaran. Also new members of the Iranian Board of Directors, consisting of the President of the University, Dr. Nozari, the Vice President of Education, Dr. Fatemi, Vice President of Research, Dr. Khesali, and the Director of the Office of International and Scientific Cooperation, Dr. Azizi were introduced and subsequently, a new Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two parties.

            After attending the annual Confucius Meeting, the President of University of Mazandaran visited Guangzhou University, and at the meetings held by the university officials, he emphasized the need to expand bilateral cooperation between the two Universities of Guangzhou and Mazandaran. At a meeting with the dean and professors of the Faculty of Physics, the Chinese partners expressed their willingness to hold joint doctoral programs in different physics fields. The President of the University of Mazandaran while welcoming the proposal, also offered to have cooperation at other levels, such as teacher exchange, research opportunities for professors and doctoral students of both universities, as well as collaboration on writing joint papers and holding joint conferences.


On December 12th Dr. Nozari also delivered a lecture entitled: “Hilbert Space Representation of Quantum Mechanics with Natural Cutoffs” at the Faculty of Physics of Guangzhou University, which was welcomed by faculty members and postgraduate students.
