The 2020 Newsletter of the Office of International and Scientific Cooperation (OISC) has been published!
This issue of the newsletter which has been compiled and published by Office of International and Scientific Cooperation is on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of University of Mazandaran as well as Nowruz celebration.
Nowruz is the Iranian New Year which begins on the Spring equinox; Nowruz has Iranian and Zoroastrian origins and is celebrated by Iranian ethnic groups all over the world. Its origins go back to Keyumars, the first king of Iran, and other mythological figures such as Jamshid and Kay Khosrow. In various historical narratives, Zoroaster is mentioned as the founder of Nowruz and Cyrus the Great as a kingdom during whose rule the ritual of celebrating Nowruz spread on the plateau of Iran.
Bureau of Consular Affairs of International Students Studying at Universities in Mazandaran province Is Inaugurated at UMZ
According to the Office of International and Scientific Cooperation of UMZ, the Bureau of Consular Affairs of International Students was inaugurated on March 15, 2021. The inauguration ceremony was held in the Central Organization of the university. BCF started its activities under the supervision of the Office of International and Scientific Cooperation and is now located in the first floor of the International Office.
Chaharshanbe Suri is an Iranian annual festival which is celebrated on the eve of the last Wednesday before Nowruz (the Persian New Year day). Its main features are lighting fire and jumping on it, spoon-banging, etc. This celebration is usually the first celebration of a series of Nowruz celebrations related to the beginning of the new solar year. Chaharshanbe Suri is celebrated in various countries within the sphere of Iranian culture and civilization such as Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kurdistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, etc.
Greetings to our international students at University of Mazandaran! We wish all of you peace and prosperity in the new Iranian solar year. This is also to inform you that all UMZ offices including the International Office will be closed from March 18th to April 10th 2021 for the New Year holidays.
Erasmus Program is a European Union student exchange program which failitates the student exchange between European universities and other universities throughout the world. University of Mazandaran is also one of the partner universities that has this program and exchanges students with European universities; however,, with the current circumstancesof the pandemic, a number of our partner universities have paused their cooperation through Erasmus+ program. On the other hand, there were some universities that wanted to establish these exchange programs; University of Salzburg is one of them We were notified by University of Salzburg, one of our partners, about the details and the criteria that the students needed to have in order to participate in this exchange opportunity. Then we evaluated the studnets at UMZ based on the criteria. After diligent investigation, Ms. Zahra Dehmaisi, a master student in Political Science was chosen for this exchange opportunity. She is now studying at University of Salzburg in the second semester of the academic year 2020-2021. You can read the report that she has sent us in the following.

Joint Meeting between the President of University of Mazandaran and the Secretary-General of the National Commission of UNESCO
According to the Office of International and Scientific Cooperation (OISC) of University of Mazandaran, a joint meeting between Dr. Kourosh Nozari, President of University of Mazandaran, and Dr. Hojjatollah Ayoubi, Secretary-General of the National Commission of UNESCO to Iran was held in Tehran.
The year 2020 was a year full of bitter events; a year in which we lost many of our compatriots, family members, and friends due to the coronavirus pandemic. But today, with a strong faith in science, the wish that we can successfully leave behind this pandemic as soon as possible is not a farfetched wish.
Faculty member of the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra congratulates the 50th anniversary of UMZ + video
Dr. Roman Kralik, Faculty member of the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, Slovakia, has sent a video expressing his greetings for the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of University of Mazandaran. Last year he had visited University of Mazandaran along with his colleague Dr. Alexander Sirotkin. Back then we started our international cooperation with this university and this cooperation continues to this day. You can watch the video he has sent us down below.
